Valentine’s Day is not usually a holiday we spend a lot of time on. In normal years, there are a few activities at school and exchanging valentine’s with friends. However, with the 2020-2021 school year being so abnormal, I tried to add more fun to the day. I assembled small kits of Valentine’s activities to send to a few friends.
In the kits were a few activities I created, and other Valentine’s Day activities gathered from fellow bloggers. These crafty ladies have really great content and printables. I love when I can find printables that are ready to go!

Valentine’s Day Candy Heart Stacking
Supplies:
Using chopsticks, how many candy hearts can you stack? This is a bit trickier than it seems because candy hearts are not typically flat on top. They have a dome shape which makes everything a bit off balance.
Valentine’s Day Candy Heart Balance
Supplies:
- Candy hearts
- A stack of counting cubes or lego bricks
- paper/cardstock heart
Instructions:
- Make a stack of counting cubes or lego bricks (about 3” high)
- Cut out a paper heart (cardstock is recommended for younger kids) and balance it on of the cube stack
- Place the candy hearts one at a time onto the paper heart
- Try to balance the whole box of candy hearts
Valentine’s Day Dissolving Candy Hearts
What happens when candy hearts are dropped in different liquids? Use the Dissolving Candy Hearts worksheet to test different liquids, like hot water, vinegar, cold water, or juice. If you try clear soda or seltzer water, you can watch the candy hearts “dance” as they float up and down in the cup! For Halloween, try a similar experiment with candy corn!
Valentine’s Day I Spy Sheet
I’ve noticed my children are more interested in coloring pages with fine details. This I Spy sheet provided a chance to color all the little hearts and was a bit of a challenge because of the large variety of images to find.
Valentine’s Day Memory Game
This Valentine’s Day themed memory game is adorable! When I printed these I did add a design to the back side of the paper. This made the image less visible when the cards were flipped over. Also I laminated the cards so they could be more easily stored and reused in future years. I don’t need much of an excuse to use my laminator!
Valentine’s Day Craft – Penguin Heart
My daughter always enjoys an activity where she can express personal creativity – aka crafts that don’t have super specific instructions. Using a series of paper hearts to make a penguin was very easy and gave us a good reason to break out the googly eyes.
Valentine’s Day Word Search
Personally, I love word searches. I have a book of extreme word searches on my desk – yes, it’s a thing. My daughter and her friends were learning to read during this particular school year and she was excited to be able to do this word search on her own.
