Whether you want to add easy fun to your Halloween party, distract your kids who are anxious to start trick-or-treating, or have some friendly competition with your coworkers, these Halloween-themed mini challenges are for you! These games use similar materials that are easy to find, like candy corn, pumpkin buckets, leaves, and cups.
Candy Corn Dominos
Materials: Candy Corn (that’s it!)
This game involves standing candy corn on edge and then knocking them down like dominos. First determine the distance that needs to be travelled, I’d suggest about 12 inches. Then you can race each other simultaneously or time how long it takes to complete. Fastest wins!
One bit of warning – learned from my own struggles – don’t squish the candy corn flat to help it stand, it will not fall easily.
Candy Unwrap
Materials: Halloween Candy – I’d suggest Reese’s Miniature Cups
Very simple game – everyone gets the same kind of candy. Then you race to open the candy using only one hand (and no teeth or other help). First one to open their candy completely wins!
Pumpkin Stack
Materials: Mini Pumpkin Buckets (or cauldrons)
Everyone is given a pile of mini pumpkin buckets to use. Then, in one minute, race to see who can make the tallest free-standing tower. It’s much harder than it looks and becomes unbalanced very quickly.
These pumpkin buckets are also great for a Halloween Pumpkin Hunt.
Candy Corn Toss
Materials: Candy Corn, Mini Pumpkin Buckets (or cauldrons)
Set up the pumpkin buckets in a line. Then toss the candy corn into the pumpkins. You can determine a winner either by racing to see who can get one piece of candy corn in each pumpkin or set a timer for 1 minute and whoever has the most candy corn in a pumpkin wins.
Setup note – use tape or sticky tack to adhere the buckets. When the candy corn hits it, they tend to move very easily or fall.
Chopstick Transfer
Materials: Candy corn, chopsticks, two bowls
In one minute, how many candy corns can you transfer from one bowl to another? Play this simple game to compete and find out! My kids really like these kid chopsticks and, as an adult, I like to use them too!
Eyeball Roll
Materials: Plastic cups, ping pong balls, table, tape
This game has the most set up required. Tape a set of plastic cups off the edge of a table to cover the whole edge. Assign point values to each cup (I prefer to use 5, 10, 15, etc.). Roll the ping pong balls down the table to land in the cups. After 10 rolls, add up how many points you got.
For some added fun, I painted the ping pong balls to look like eyeballs.
Leaf Blower
Materials: Straws, dry leaves
Each player gets a straw and a leaf. Determine the distance the leaf needs to travel. Then at the same time, use the straw to blow your leaf to the finish line!
Fun games and I like that they are good for all ages. We adults get pretty competitive, which makes it more fun.
